Hello Atelier watchers,

Well, the last month or so has been busy in more ways than one!

In line with the activity around my Atelier classes, my wedding and event dress business has been attracting customers from a surprisingly wide area. Of course the internet has a lot to do with is, but I am surprised to see that people are willing to travel a fair distance (the first couple I mention are from London and Newcastle respectively), to have things designed and made. I'm thinking that this probably has a lot to do with the individual design and make that I offer, and the fact that I am enthusiastic to take on any design project which is a little different.
For example, I don't think I'd be compromising a current customer's plan by saying that on of my next commissions is to design and pattern cut a denim wedding dress. The theme of the whole wedding is denim, so that's not a secret! So I'm looking forward to this, and the challenge of making something feminine, classy and totally original in denim. Just starting on the design stage next week.

The following project is for 5 bridesmaid dresses on a draped and modelled theme - kind of 1940's Hollywood /grecian influenced. This is a BIG project, which may include the wedding dress too, but it's in the very earliest stages, and the prospective bride needs to scan the horizon for what's out there first. We shall see what transpires...!

Other news: the recycled/new fabric samples for Atelier Redolent are still in construction, and one of my recent customers just got married last Saturday, in a 50's style foundation pink, circular skirted, massed petticoats dress and cropped, shawl collared, 3/4 sleeve jacket. Have to say that, by the look of her friend's photos on Facebook, she looked a million dollars! Here's a sneak preview, before the official photos arrive, posted with permission of course.
